Types of Heavy Duty Turnbuckles

Turnbuckles are a type of hardware used in rigging and tensioning systems. They consist of two threaded rods connected by a spring-loaded, adjustable barrel.

Turnbuckles tighten and adjust the tension on ropes, cables, and other linear tensioning systems. The two threaded rods can be turned in opposite directions to increase or decrease the tension on the system.

Eye & Eye Turnbuckle

Eye & eye turnbuckles feature two eye bolts at the end of the rod; these grip the opposite ends of the cable, string, or rod being tensioned.

They are usually used as couplings, or for adjusting the tension in cables.

Jaw & Eye Turnbuckle

Jaw & eye turnbuckles consist of a threaded bar with an eye bolt at one end and a jaw at the other. The jaw is attached to one end of the object being tensioned, while the other end is attached to a fixed point.

The turnbuckle can then be rotated to tighten or loosen the object.

Jaw & Jaw Turnbuckle

Jaw & jaw turnbuckles feature two jaws on either end; they’re usually used to connect two lengths of metal rod. The turnbuckle allows for tension to be applied to the rods, which can be used to hold something in place or to pull the rods closer together.

The jaws are opened by turning a screw on one side of the turnbuckle; this screw loosens the bolt that connects the jaws, allowing them to be opened. The jaws are then placed around the two rods and tightened by turning the screw again.

Hook & Eye Turnbuckle

Hook & eye turnbuckles feature a hook at one end and an eye bolt at the other. The eye bolt is usually attached to a cable, while the hook can be attached to various fixed points (such as a metal rod or another cable).

This type of turnbuckle can be used to secure wire fencing, cables, and other objects.

Hook & hook turnbuckles feature two hooks at either end; this allows them to connect two objects together, such as metal rods or wire fencing.

Hook & hook turnbuckles are commonly used for tensioning cables or rods in construction projects, though they’re also used for or other applications where stability and tension are important.
